So the idea is, people who don't see this video are basically unable to decide how to commute to their job? That's nonsense. Any sane person, who remembers to consider alternatives when unexpected things happen, would do this naturally. The thing that causes bad decision-making is to ignore the 'get up late' situation and just proceed as usual. And is it really bad? I mean, the root of the problem in that example is getting up too late. Hasty decisions in unexpected circumstances tend to be bad, regardless whether they were found probabilistic or not. Most likely, it's the better decision to get to work late and make sure to get sleep earlier or change something that allows for that and to make all those decisions calm and reasonable. Could also be the right decision to quit the job and find one with better working times. Therefore, this is bullshit. “Probabilistic thinking” as described in this video is simply the default way of thinking. To improve decision-making you have to think and consider and to actually have a meaningful impact on that, you rather need means to limit the options to consider as little as necessary and as much as possible. For example, by using Occam's razor

When we recognize which parts of our sytem failed and which succeeded, we can proactively address our shortcomings and adjust our operation. I've seen it happen way too many times that an organization was heading towards disaster and didn't bother addressing their weaknesses until a catastrophic event happened, but by that time it was too late to fix the problem. A micromanager will make you dread every second of your job, make you question your own abilities, and make you feel like no matter how hard you work, you’re not performing well enough. It’s easier to find a new job than to change a person’s management style.
